Is there a fairly small/light UWA solution for full-frame? Probably doesn't have to be a large aperture.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Canon UK appears to have started a teaser campaign of some sort for the summer of 2017. I think it’s safe to say that this is isn’t a teaser for a new product, so don’t get too excited.

Going by the countdown timer, we’ll see what they’re up to next Wednesday.

Phenomenal Clarity in Black and White Photography

COPENHAGEN, May 10, 2017 – Phase One today announced the world’s first 101-megapixel achromatic digital back — the IQ3 100MP Achromatic, featuring a new CMOS sensor design and state-of-the-art focus on classic black and white photography. With a top ISO of 51,200, it stands out as the most light sensitive medium format digital back available today, and its unmatched resolution offers photographers a new way to explore and express their visions without compromise.

“A black and white picture has the ability to transport the viewer into a different time and place. It essentially creates the illusion of a timeless experience …a simple black and white portrait can sum up all aspects of photography for me.” –Mark Seliger, Portrait Photographer

The IQ3 100MP Achromatic’s 101-megapixel sensor is produced without a Bayer color filter, allowing all available light to be captured unaltered and unobstructed. With no color information to be interpreted, the sensor is free to focus solely on capturing the highest level of detail, nuance and luminance.

“The IQ3 100MP Achromatic enables photographers to capture a timeless expression,” said Stefan Sandor, Vice President Marketing and Product Management. “The detail, tonality and image quality must be experienced first-hand, as seeing is not only believing, but truly inspirational.”

Produced without an Infrared (IR) cut-off filter, the IQ3 100MP Achromatic can capture light outside the visible spectrum, benefitting artistic and infrared applications. These powerful imaging abilities open new opportunities for a multitude of photographic disciplines, from fine art, landscape, portrait, and architecture to scientific applications.

The new achromatic CMOS sensor provides instant Live View feedback, and the sensor’s ability to see IR light allows the Live View to display light that is normally invisible to the naked eye. Capturing in purely black and white means that even at high ISO, the details produced have an analog-like smoothness, similar to film grains on a black and white film. The absence of color makes it possible to stretch the images to the extreme and at the same time retain the pure black and white image quality demanded by the world’s best photographers.

The IQ3 100MP Achromatic Digital Back also provides an Electronic Shutter, long exposure of up to 60 minutes, HDMI output, WiFi capabilities, full IQ3 XF Camera System integration, and compatibility with other camera bodies, as is standard with all IQ3 Digital Backs.

According to reports, Tamron will introduce a new 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 later this year. The new version will be a replacement for the current 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC which was announced back in 2012.

As pointed out by Photo Rumors, this is a logical next step as Tamron updated the 70-200 f/2.8 VC to a new version early in 2017.

Sigma recently announced a 24-70mm f/2.8 OS Art series lens that we still can’t order, so Tamron likely has to follow suit.

Some folks are still clamouring for Canon to release a new 24-70 f/2.8L with IS.

We’re told from one of our retail sources that the next camera body from Canon is going to be the Cinema EOS C200.

We posted recently that the Canon EOS 6D Mark II would be coming some time in July, so this camera will likely be coming in the June/July timeframe.

Why wasn’t the Cinema EOS C200 announced for NAB? We’re not sure. We do wonder if availability of the camera will still be a few months down the road.

We do know that the EOS C200 will be 4K and we’re told that it’s “pretty loaded”, though the source wouldn’t elaborate on the full list of specifications.

We also don’t know if this is a replacement to the Cinema EOS C100 Mark II, or an addition to the Cinema EOS camera body lineup.

More to come….

Canon has released new firmware for the recently released Canon EOS M5 mirrorless camera.

Firmware Version 1.0.1 incorporates the following fixes:

Corrects a phenomenon in which, when the playback grid is set to “6×4”, and a vertical image is displayed, or a horizontal image is rotated to be displayed vertically, the grid does not display correctly.

In languages other than Japanese, the phrase “no. of shots” has been corrected to “value” in the “Time-lapse movie settings > Interval/Shots” setting screen.

Firmware Version 1.0.1 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.0.
If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

We’re told that the Canon EOS 6D Mark II will be announced in July of this year, though the exact date is unknown at the time of writing this. The EOS 6D Mark II will also start shipping relatively soon after the announcement, so it’s safe to say you should have your hands on the new camera some time in August, 2017.

Specifications have been extremely hard to come by, and anything out there currently is either made up or just logical features we can expect in the coming body.

We posted a predicted specifications list back in February, but it’s nothing more than conjecture at this point.

We do expect legitimate specifications to leak out in the coming month or so.

We put a [CR2] on this because announcement dates can move, though it’s more common with lenses than with camera bodies.

It appears a service notice for the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II has appeared on the Canon.ph site, and has since gone away. We suspect it will be sent out globally over the coming day or so.

Thank you for using Canon products.

We have determined that some EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lenses exhibit an AF operation-related malfunction. The details of the phenomenon and Canon’s service policy are described below.

We would like to offer our sincere apologies to users who have been inconvenienced by this issue. Going forward, we will spare no effort in our quality management to make sure our customers can use our products with confidence.
