5D MkII Launch

Anyone else remember the way Canon launched the 5D MkII? With a week long teaser of a crescent moon growing every day as they revealed a little more of the camera, finally showing it off in all its glory.

The point is are Canon really going to do that kind of campaign again? Did it work, do they consider it success? I wonder if we will see a repeat of this for the 5D X/MkIII or whether there will be a single announcement as normal.

I remember that... and internet forums and websites covering the rumored 5d mark 2 exploded with reports/speculation. Canon will want to put some sort of teaser up there just to steal any thunder from nokin and bring attention to them for a bit, but who knows what it will be this time. Apple does that by "accidentally" losing iphone prototypes out in the wild and somehow blog websites just happen to find them... Who knows what they are going to do.

I wouldn't fret too much... from what I call we heard next to nothing about a 7D until days before it was released when a leaked photo came out of the top construction piece plate showing a slightly new design... Sometimes Canon does throw a curveball... they dont want to telegraph their agenda too much too early just to get bad press.
