I wonder just how many manufacturing facilities it takes to produce these roughly 13,000 + lenses per day, all the while maintaining Canon's legendary quality control. Amazing. Come on now, I know there must be at least one CR member out there, with a notebook full of analytical statistical data on Canon that knows where every single plant is located. Wouldn't it be fun to take a tour of one of them and observe the methods of production from start to finish, observing just how many people are involved in the assembly of just one lens and the time it takes to produce it?

It IS a lot any-which-way. I do wonder though how many back-orders are people placing orders with multiple retailers, waiting to see which one calls them first to say it's in stock...?

I wish they would use this announcement to give us some more lenses!! Like the long awaited 150/200-600mm. And a affordable 120-300 2.8. nothing for 13.000. more like 3-5k^^

Judging by how the L lenses hold their value on the second hand market, I'd say that they must be a relatively small percentage of that 150,000,000.

You could probably just sum up the number of Canon crop bodies sold each year and use that as the number of kit lenses sold. As digging through these sales numbers is apparently one of your favorite things, perhaps you could answer your own question.

Of course I don't own all of Canon's lens and especially not cine lens and RF Lens but of the ones I own these would be my top 10
1) 300mm 2.8 II L - Stellar (perfection in a lens)
2) 24-70 2.8 II L - Great all round lens
3) 70-200 2.8 II L - Super consistent lens, makes everything look great, survived a dip in the ocean too (my 5D III didn't0
4) 100-400 II 4.5 - 5.6 L - A great all rounder, not a perfect lens but always good enough
5) 16-35mm F4 L - A great wide angle lens, light
6) 600mm II F4 L - Super lens, way to heavy for me, I need it on a gimbal, becomes a big job to bring it anywhere
7) 85mm F.12 L - Slow focusing, can be hit and miss but can create beautiful images
8) 100mm 2.8 L Macro - A great Macro lens
9) 50mm 1.2 L - Maybe not the best 50mm but I've always liked it
10) 24 TSE - A specialised lens but makes you a better photographer

What didn't make the list
50 1.4 - always liked it but soft to be honest
11-24mm F4 - Its a good lens but too big and heavy and filters are an issue. Maybe with the RF in the future the filter adapter might add to it. The bulbous front is offputting
17-40 - Was a good lens but the 16-35 F4 was a step up
28mm 1.4 - not a great lens
50mm 1.8 - Loved it at the time , someone else accidently broke it
24-105mm F4 - Great lens but the only Canon lens that has ever malfunctioned on me
70-300 F4- F5.6 III - Not good really but was light at least
EF-S 18-55mm Kit lens - Very basic but got me going
