Always a joy to pull out and use.

Nice image Dustin! Here's one of the same type of flower taken fom a bit further away in the Austrian Alps.

5D3 with 100L macro, f/9, 1/125, ISO100, handheld in natural light.

And here's one taken with the same combo of (I believe) a horsefly.

f/6.3, 1/160, ISO800, handheld in natural light.

My 70-200 went down (literally), the strap broke. So I needed a longer lens, and my 100mm IS Mcro was just sitting there begging to go to the game...

Both picture I have made without stativ. The Image stabilisator made a great work
Hello mistkäfer!

Lovely pictures. Congrats.
I really like the bee pic. (Staubige Angelegenheit.jpg)
Questions on this:
I could see from the exif, that you used f8 and I am quite impressed on the depth of focus.
What was the distance? And did you do some croping on that pic?

Thank you for your reply.

Dear Maximilian

I am not sure to 100% but I think the distance was about 30cm or 0.99ft, scale1:1. The picture size is original. But . . . you are right, the deep focus is strange. I can not explain.

Maybee the distance was a little more than 30cm or 0.99ft

Thanks for the reply and the information, mistkäfer!

I would have guessed that it might have been about 50 cm and some croping compareable to this one here

But maybe I'm just a little bit missled about the DOF by comparing the bee to the dragonfly, which is a lot bigger than the bee.
