Canon EOS 1DX, how to check whether genuine

I can get a relatively cheap (new and unused) Canon EOS 1D-X.

- Is there a way to check whether it is a counterfeit or not?
- Is there a way to check the Country where the guarantee is valid (might be Grey Import)?

I asked Canon directly, but didn't get any Response ...

I think you mean grey market, NOT counterfeit.
The only difference is who imported it into the u.s.a. For warranty purposes.
If you are getting a " really good deal" it is VERY LIKELY grey market.
It was made by canon, just not imported into the u.s.a. by usacanon.
Inquire as to the warranty and make your choice.

Something to watch... some sites will do the bait and switch... offer the camera body at an unrealistic price, and then turn around and not sell it until you agree to some outrageous 'upgrades' and 'add ons' that make the original bargain not a bargain.

the website canon price watch has the best deals with reputable sellers posted on a regular basis. don't fall for those too good to believe deals on other sites.

You did not really provide any information about where you are buying it. The general rule is that items priced below market are scams and you will not actually be able to buy one.

Low priced new cameras are going to be gray market, Canon controls authorized dealers advertised prices.

Here are some real market prices, and its noted if they are unauthorized /gray market or Authorized Dealers.

Canon price watch lists sellers who have a good reputation, and has booted a few from the list after they cheated buyers.

So far, Canon has not been refusing service to gray market cameras, but they are sending out signals that sound like they may change.

Take some pictures of people walking towards the Camera with all focus points on in servo mode .
If the face is out of focus, you have a real 1dx.
If its sharp, someone might have sold you a Nikon d3s disguised as a 1dx.
