Let's see some great shots taken with old, cheap gear!

Not so much old as not bang up to date. 550D is still a current model in the UK.

This photo is of a celebration parade. It seemed that the whole city turned out to congratulate their local football team on winning the FA Trophy (non League premier honour) and attaining promotion back into the Football League at Wembley Stadium over two successive weekends this May.

I shot the original in RAW and converted to TIFF but it has lost a bit of resolution here as I've had to resize and convert to JPEG to upload it here as the file was massive. I used my 28-135mm lens.

All shot with either a Canon T1i or XSI with 17-40mm L, 18-55mm, Sigma 105mm Macro, 50mm 1.8, 28-135mm 3.5-5.6
I still only have T1i, want so bad to upgrade to a 5D MKII by the end of the summer.

I have a 2000 d30 that still works - I will take some picture with it and post them

Cool. There is some shots from my D30 on page 8 if your interested.

I will stick on the 200 f/2 and see what it can do :)
Haha you consider that lens to be 'old cheap gear' ? ;)

The alternative was the 2008 1DS3 ;D ;D ;D

Some more terrible pictures from my now obsolete 5D2.

1 and 2) also taken with a FIRST generation 24mm TS-E f/3.5L
3) 24-105mm f/4L (great lens)

So many of the great shots posted on this thread validate that old chestnut, "A good workman never blames his tools..."

Sometimes there can be an almost unhealthy obsession with gear, chronic Upgraditus and a perceived need to always have the latest.
Mind you, there is some real fun that comes along with obsession!

20D with a kit lens, tired old G7, early Rebel, iPhone...it doesn't matter. In the right hands powerful, beautiful creative images can be created with just about any old clunker.

Does this mean I'll trade my 5D3 for a 300D? Nope. But it makes you think dunnit?

These were taken 14 years ago with my first Canon SLR - the 500N. What a great camera this was. I used the kit 35-80mm f/4-5.6 lens for the first image (near the summit of Mt Taranaki, New Zealand), and the kit telephoto 80-200mm for the second (Mt Cook, New Zealand).

not sure if mine is cheap (note: i bought it use for $290 to support my learning purpose, not including lens.) but definitely that it is old... these images below were some of those images taken with canon 30d and 50mm f/1.4 while i was at my friend's house...

note: these images are linked from facebook...
