Show your Bird Portraits

Meadow pipits are numerous and not very exciting-looking, but I got nice, prolonged close views yesterday, could even swap lenses (I used the zoom first as I was hoping to get some in-flight shots as it kept flying off and landing, but I wasn't quick enough - that also explains the faster shutter speed). Virtually identical image quality between the two setups, maybe slightly nicer background with the zoom as it's a stop wider. First two: R6, RF100-400, RF Extender 1.4x - 560mm, 1/2000, f/11, ISO 3200; third: R6, RF 800 f/11, RF Extender 1.4x - 1120mm, f/16, 1/1000, ISO 3200.

They are actually the most common bird in Britain. But, they hide rather well. https://www.bto.org/press-releases/it’s-official-–-wren-our-commonest-bird

Not on that list is the Kingfisher. It's been very rare this year. We managed to get one at the time of the wren at the same spot a week ago. It wasn't close, and I put my RF 100-500mm on my wife's R7 to get extra reach, and here it is upscaled 2x in Topaz. Upscaling in Topaz can llook very artefactual but this one is reasonable. (She had the RF 100-400 when she took the wren).

Despite the fact that my bird book says these yellow birds are prevalent in my area, they are extremely rare in my neighborhood: American Goldfinch [M6MkII and adapted EF 70-300II @300x1.6; ISO 2500 & 1/500s]

It is a delightful-looking bird. This is a mating male (I think).

Any well done kingfisher gets my (y) as I just love them.
No matter if rare or common.
They were rare at my spot, too.
From Feb to April I saw none.
At the time when I caught the little grebe they were back.
No pics until now but I’m just happy seeing them fly by. :)
