What features would you most like to see added to the new 5DS and 5DSR?

2. Better battery life. I don't know what it is about Canon's most recent bodies but they're giving the batteries a really hard time. 600 shots for a pro body sounds really bad.

I was equally surprised when moving from crop 60d to full frame 6d - it's just above 1000 shots average now (with some image reviewing and gps on) while with the 60d I could shoot myself silly on just one battery.

I've been told that the reason for this (same might apply to 5ds) probably is simply the sensor's power consumption, so little Canon can do about it - except of course shrink the process or license Sonikon sensors :->

Dont forget you're also running DUAL Digic 6 chips instead of a single Digic 4 or 5. Far more power consumption on the CPU side in addition to the sensor. I'm sure that's why they updated the LPE6 when the 7D2 came out. Same battery I'm sure with the 5DS. Power hungry monsters, and that's before you stick on a crazy IS lens. It's Canon. They're going to try and squeeze as much production life outta the LPE6 as possible.

Assuming no h/w change, only firmware, I would like a shot to the right mode. Read the screen with a pre-exposure and then adjust shutter speed (or ...) so that only a % (or 0%) of pixels are over exposure or exposed at 240 (out of 255).

I'd rather a RAW histogram than an automated 8-bit ETTR.

Only if I could see the extreme right and fine details about number of pixels are blown out. Current histograms give great overview but seeing fine details is impossible

Even better: ability to zoom in on a raw RGB histogram :)

Your idea of automatically backing off the clipping point by a certain margin would be pretty slick, I'd just prefer it be higher than 8-bit fidelity.

I'll take a zoom on the JPG histogram. I like the idea of a zoom on the histogram. I can set the image to natural and get very close to the raw histogram.

On my 5d mkII with battery grip, I have not managed to run out of battery in a single day of shooting with loads of live view. The 5dSR is not a snap-shot camera, it's not a rapid fire sports body, so I predict that number of shots taken on it in a day is even lower. If concerned, get a spare battery, easy to switch out. Just as easy as a CF card.
Longer battery life is a double edged sword, as it comes with more weight. No free lunch here.

Looking forward to the pre-order to come in.
