1D4 Frame Rate An anonymous email says the new 1D4 will be a 12fps camera. This is the reason it is staying APS-H. 60D New battery and battery grip? Apparently so. 1D4 & 60D I received an email that suggested select 1D4 and 60D’s are being tested with 3″ OLED screens. Most of the test cameras are equipped with LCD screens. USB 3.0 1D4 to be USB 3.0 ready. The initial camera shipments may come with it locked out, and be later turned on with a firmware upgrade as the spec reaches the masses sometime in 2010. note: I don’t have the technical knowledge to know if you can turn on usb 3.0 at a later date. It’s up “If you currently own an EOS 450D or another fairly recent entry-level DSLR from an image quality point of view there is not necessarily a need to upgrade to the EOS 500D. However, the HD video mode, new high-resolution screen or extended ISO range make it easier to justify the expense if you’re likely to use these features. For anybody buying their first DSLR the 500D is an easy recommendation but you might want to have a look at the Nikon D5000 as well. FF vs APS-H One of my better sources of information says we should expect the next 1D to remain APS-H. Expect it to be in the 15mp range. No exact number at the moment. The sensor is completely new. Noise control and dynamic range were the two big engineering goals for the new sensor. Dual DIGIC V will also be present. No info on frame rate or other specs from this source. cr
