Maven Filters launches the world’s first color coded photography and videography filters

We have known Michael for more than a decade and have worked together in the past to great success. This is being crowdfunded with Kickstarter and we ask that you read our Full Disclosure to alleviate any concerns.
We haven’t received our free filters yet, but we should soon and we can’t wait to use them.
About Maven Filters
MAVEN FILTERS was born from the frustrations I (Michael The Maven) was having with photography filter use. The first issue I had was a strong color cast when shooting long exposures for landscapes. I did not like the extra steps of color correction and felt like if I was spending quality money on a filter, I should not have to do this.

Once I felt I had a good process for ensuring world-class color performance in the lenses themselves, I wanted to...

What lenses do you feel are "missing" from RF still?

Other than the ones that we know are coming "eventually" IE the 135mm f/1.8 and the 35mm f/1.2, what lenses are you hopeful that Canon will release due to the other big brands having their own version or just your own hopes?

Canon 24-70mm f/4 - light weight kit lens like the Nikon version that extends

Canon 100mm f/2 - the EF version is one of my favorites, and it's small and sharp

Canon 28-75mm f/2.8 - unless they allow Tamron to make an RF version, I'd love to see Canon make this lens

RF-S 16-55mm f/2.8 - The Sony version is small and light and it would pair perfectly with the R7 and R10

Canon 20-40mm f/2.8 - I'd prefer the Tamron yet again buttttt if they're not gonna give it to us, I'd love a small Canon version

RF 40mm f/2.8 or f/2 pancake - Nikon made a really small 40 at f/2, I'd love a f/2.8 pancake for the RP

Patent: Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L IS 1.4x plus other supertelephoto optical designs

One of the most popular, if not the most popular “big white lens” is the Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS. We’re still waiting to learn more about an RF version of the lens. It’s our understanding that Canon has done a complete ground-up redesign for the RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM.
A new patent showing a bunch of super-telephoto optical designs has appeared, and all of these optical formulas come with a built-in 1.4x teleconverter.
We think that a 1.4x built-in teleconverter would be quite welcomed on an RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM.

F-number: 2.91

Protecting cover / pouch for canon 24-70 2.8 MK II

Hi all :)

I am looking for protecting cover for Canon 24-70 2.8 MK II. I bought Tenba tools lens capsule 5 x 3.5 inch but it's A LOT TO SMALL (sorry for capitals). Description said it's for this lens with reversed hood. Diameter is way to small. Even if you will put only lens inside, you will have a problem to close it. Does anyone is using something similar? I have from Tenba lens capsule for my 50mm 1.2 without hood and I am very happy, but brand doesn't matter as long product is fitting well and solid.
All best and super fun with shooting

canon lens query

I'm considering splashing out on a decent camera setup and thinking about the Canon 70-200 f4 L. It's a bit of a stretch financially and there's no way I could afford the IS version. How much of a problem would the lack of IS be for panning shots etc?

So far I'm used to using my Panasonic GF1 with a 45-200 lens (effectively a 90-400 on that sensor) which has IS, including a horizontal-only mode for panning shots.

Would the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM be a better bet? Longer reach + IS but then it lacks the image quality of the L lens, and a stop slower at the long end.

As a bit of background, I'm hoping to go for a 60D for the body and the 15-85 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM as a general-purpose lens.

Any advice gratefully received

SIGMA and Tamron discontinue most of their DSLR lenses

It looks like both SIGMA and Tamron are transitioning fully to mirrorless lens mounts, which was obviously an inevitable outcome.
According to Nikon Rumors, this information comes from a large retailer in the UK. We have seen big discounts on SIGMAs ART lenses over the last year, so we expect at least some of those lenses be discontinued.
In total, 18 SIGMA lenses received the axe, and Tamron cut their lineup by 22 lenses.
We do think that we’re going to see RF mount lenses from both SIGMA and Tamron in time. It’s not simply about Canon, both companies have to be able to develop, manufacture and support new lenses on a new mount and make money doing it.

EOS R3 eye-focus training: do it at least 10 times/rotation

I spoke to a Canon representative this Tuesday regarding a couple of questions regarding my R3 (he was at a pro dealer demonstrating RF lenses), and he told me that you need to train the eye-focus system at least 10-11 times in each orientation before it becomes really reliable

I don't recall seeing that mentioned in the user manual, so wanted to pass this info along to y'all.
I'm off to delete all the trainings and redoing them to see what if any difference it makes.

Save $40 on the brand new Topaz Photo AI software, which brings popular tools into one package

Topaz Labs has been making some great tools for the last decade or so, and they have now combined some of their best products in one suite called Topaz Photo AI.
This new suite includes DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI.
From Topaz Labs
AI is good at some things but bad at others. It can write sentences but can’t tell a story, and it can recommend songs but can’t compose music. But most importantly for us: AI is exceptionally good at improving image quality, but bad at knowing what to do with it.
We believe that stunning photography comes from artistic vision paired with world-class tools. AI will never replicate human creativity, so it’s still your job to provide the vision. But just like a sharper lens or...

Problem with R7

Hello. Yesterday I was taking photos at high speed with several flashes with the R7 and at one point the viewfinder turned off. The screen was also off. Turn off the camera and turn it back on and nothing, dead. I took out the battery and reinserted it and it started and kept working. The truth is quite annoying when it happens and taking photos misses an opportunity. It's the first time it's happened to me after 7000 photos. Has something like this happened to anyone with the R7? I know that R5 is famous for freezing
