Well only difference is that 7D have more rounded edges.Z said:ruuneos said:5D3 body is almost like a copy of 7D, so is is possible to put 5D3 BG to the 7D? So you could get workable joystick for grip?? Just wondering this. ???
Almost definitely not.

Is the BG E-11 for the 5D MkIII back compatible with a 5D Mk2?

Highly unlikely. The 5D MkII wouldn't be expecting input from either the MFn button or the joystick, so those would be useless. Therefore, there's no reason to spend an extra $200 to get the BG-E11 for a 5D MkII, instead of the BG-E6.

Axilrod said:I may have to get a 3rd party grip, and I'm not the type to say something is overpriced, but $500 for a battery grip is kind of ridiculous....It's not any bigger than other grips, it doesn't use different batteries, it appears that the only difference is the joystick. The joystick is cool, but not for $300 more than a normal grip. I wish they had one without the joystick for $200.

$499 for the new BG-E11 is a total rip-off. Just wait for 3rd party clones for $149 + 2 x LP-E6 lookalikes. I swear that my non-Canon LP-E6 batteries last longer than OEM one (plus they are chipped so can be registered with camera body to check health/capacity etc.) 8)

well that's one of the reasons I asked if the BGE6 is compatible with the 5dIII thinking that I can trade off 1 button for a much lower price as the BGE6 ($350AU) is expensive already then how much more for the new one maybe 500+..
A few of the pics show the pins for the BG-E11. I compared them to my BG-E6 and they are completely different.Rob Wiebe said:You can see how the Batteries load on this page .... near middle... http://www.dcfever.com/news/readnews.php?id=6365
