Canon Introduces Three New Lenses, Enhancing Still Photography and Video Production for Any Skill Level

Then be happy to live in Texas.
I am happy to have German welfare and healthcare ;)

As I said, you'll have to calculate without taxes. Then it's a fair comparison.
Hehe,
I am very happy that I don’t live in Texas :) I actually live in Germany but I have family in Texas and an official second home because I also pay a few taxes in the states.

I absolutely love the German health care system despite its flaws and although I have always had a dual citizenship I never lived in the states. For me, it’s a great to travel and visit friends and family and occasionally pick up a lens now and then.

I'm asking people who are saying things like you are here to illustrate their statements with actual photos. My hunch is such real-world photos basically don't exist but I'm happy to be proven wrong.
How am I supposed to illustrate my statement with the actual photos? I'd need a new 24-105 lens for that.
I have numerous examples of vignetting from asto/milky way shots taken with an EF 16-35. After applying lens corrections for vignetting, the increased noise in the corners is quite noticeable.

I haven't seen the actual measurements of vignetting for the new 24-105. From the video above it looks like it's up to 3 stops darker which is quite significant. But I need to see proper measurements.

Heavy vignetting is not a show stopper, it's one of the important factors to consider.
You always have the option of exposing for the corners. Granted you then have the risk of blowing out highlights in the center,
That won't work, I usually do ETTR.

I wish it was 7.1 at 600mm. F8 is a too dark already at 500mm but let's see the reviews.
I am heartily sick of these comments about lenses being too dark. The 100-500mm is f/7.1 at 500mm, which is only 0.24 stops faster, and all those here who have it rave about the lens. The RF 100-400mm f/8 is also another favourite here. f/9 @ 800mm is actually 1 stop faster than 500mm @ f/7.1 in terms of signal to noise and equal to 600mm @ f/6.3.

I'm not complaining but I think the RF200-800mm F6.3-9 IS USM didn't get the L red ring is maybe Canon want to keep L as a minimum f/7.1 for RF. But I think it's a good direction that they included L features such as the white colour, weather sealed mount, lens hood and tripod mount, hopefully more RF lenses in the future include some of these things.

Maybe the RF600mm f/11 and RF800mm f/11 will get a mark II in the future which includes a weather sealed mount?

The 200-800mm looks great for casual fun wildlife hikes with potential for something more serious when needed. I promise to get one right after I get my weather sealed f/1.4 35/50/85 primes for general, street and portrait photography. And a 16 or 20mm f/1.8 for landscape and astro. Until then I'll manage with 70-200 and the 600mm f/11 for wildlife.

The aperture ring will work for photos but not on the current RF bodies. The press release I read on DPReview stated it’ll work with upcoming bodies released in 2024 and beyond.
I don't care, since I'll order the R5 II as soon as it is announced...:)
Maybe there will be a software for the more recent older cameras.

Even though I'm not a doctor, this is a kind of sickness I really understand...;)
Some people will never ever understand.

Regarding sports, I've been photographing way too much kids' soccer this past year. Parents want more than a single player in focus, and, even at 500mm, f/9 doesn't give me enough DoF in many cases. This new zoom could definitely be of use to many photographers.

Edit: And, oh yeah, the PS CC AI Content-Aware Fill helps get those folks in folding-chairs staring at their smartphones right out of the picture entirely. Just saying, with new editing tools, it's so easy to clean up a distracting background. Balance that against lenses that way a ton and cost five figures.

Gordon’s first-looks review of the 200-800mm is out.

A few things to know:
- MFD: 0.8m @ 200mm, 1.8m @ 400mm, 2.8m @ 600mm, 3.3m @ 800mm
- Weather sealed
- Hood and lens strap included
- Fully compatible (so at all focal lengths) with the 1.4x and 2x extenders, although with a reduced AF area, more so with the 2x.
- Aperture changes:

Two more reviews, which include sample pictures:

…and one in french, but with many sample images (and a brief comparison to the Sony 200-600 and Canon 100-500):
@Del Paso could you give a summary translation!

When did "fast lens" become "bright lens"?
