Canon RF 105mm f/1.4L VCM on the Way?

Sure, a VCM lens may have IS at some point, e.g. given the rumors I´d imagine a 20-70mm F2.8 L IS VCM. But that is not the point. The VCM hybrid prime line-up share design features:
- size
- weight
- F1.4 aperture
- aperture ring
- same filter thread
- IRIS control
- no IS

Therefore, it is highly unlikely that Canon would change the feature with the seventh and final lens (well, we are hoping for a 28mm F1.4 VCM) of this line-up. It would just raise the question:
why don't the others have IS? Furthermore, it would contradict making them lightweight.
OK, so I just double checked the post heading and — silly me — no "24-" part, pure 105. Haha — I'm clearly under-coffee'd this week! You have earned the right to say silly things at me. 🤦‍♂️🤣:coffee:

Now that I'm back on Earth, yeah — totally agreed with you. No IS.

For what it's worth, this is why I'm distracted:

It's fawn season over where I am, and we have four resident moms and their kiddos boinging all over the back acreage! I can be a tough, gruff guy, but I'll admit that it's cuteness overload.

Mhm, well it is doubtful unless a company like Canon reinvents itself it will keep making sense for more and more regular people to just go with the cheaper, "good enough" and more portable alternatives.

inb4 "oh look Canon is doomed poster haha"

Because if you're not doomed apparently you cannot say anything against muh perfect Canon company that's living in the past, especially on the software side

Companies like DJI and Insta360 will destroy companies that can't adapt, especially in the hobbyist space, since they are expanding fast and will continue to do so at a faster and faster pace. What's worse, since AI is also 'good enough' for most people and even companies, there's even fewer opportunities for professional work.

Over the years this will result in a shrinking demand and therefore market for what a Mirrorless system that's not purely cinema grade can offer. Unless they can come out with something great.
Yeah, going with the cheaper "good enough" is an economic decision. I think it's a separate deal. I used to have the 85/1.2, 50/1.2, and the 28-70/2. All fantastic. Right now, good enough is all I can afford. It ain't got nuthin' to do with Canon not keeping up. Besides, regular enthusiasts ain't buying halo lenses. It takes a real obsession with lenses to drop that kind of cash. Who are these "regular people" you know that can afford $30k in camera gear? I've got news for you, they ain't regular people. High end gear isn't marketed to "regular people". That's what smart phones are for. That's regular people.
