Pretty realistic specs for the upcoming G11
The upcoming G11 is pretty obvious, I think the GX1 rumor has been debunked by now.

Also, isn’t XI the Roman numeral version for 11?
I think it’s been debunked in the sense that Canon is not going to release two essentially identical cameras, and since the G11 looks definite, therefore the GX1 isn’t happening.
GPS. If it doesn’t have integrated GPS, I’m not interested.
I don’t know if this means anything, or is a simple mistake by an editor, but in my ‘just delivered’ copy of Popular Photography, one article makes reference to a Canon Powershot G12 as if it is an existing product. This is a ‘September’ issue of the magazine, and Canon is set to release a slew of P&S cameras on August 19. I wonder if this was just an accident of timing.
Now, I can’t see why Canon would change up the naming scheme of the G series (going from G10 to G12), so I’m inclined to believe this was just an error.
Here’s the section of the story for reference (Article is titled ‘One-Lens Wonder’ and is referring to the Sigma DP2):
“But Sigma’s DP2 ($650, street) is different from many of those, such as the Canon Powershot G12, Nikon Coolpix P6000, Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.”
The only thing they need to improve is noise at > ISO 200.
Get over the swivel screen, it’s not going to happen at 3″, and no one wants a 2″ screen (or an even bigger camera to incorporate a 2.5″ swivel). It’s just an extra thing to break.
