Anyone in the US buy a RF 70-200 2.8 IS recently?

Curious about the exact type of AF issue you were having with the first copy?
I probably shouldn't have even mentioned the possible issue (basically missing focus occasionally on simple scenes with lots of contrast) since I didn't fully test...it can be anything at this point, but I'm leaning toward my theory above. I mainly wanted to ask about the production dates on the lens, because the irregularities (a pretty old production date from a store that turns over stock often, plus the debris or other anomaly inside the lens).

Canon R5 recall

you have quite a storm happening in your head, i would be worried too if i had bought it but i always knew never to be first to buy and i never have.

I have the storm in my head? I bought a camera I am happy with and am not spreading complete BS I heard from some biased internet source. I'm not worried in the slightest about my decision. I don't buy anything to be first, I buy when a tool is going to work for me. Until the R5, I always bought refurbished.

So stop trying to invent reality, whether from idle speculation, or an ego driven perspective. You have made zero arguments that hold up to any scrutiny and are proving yourself to be irrational and silly.

Teardown: The Canon EOS R5 gets an autopsy

The infamous Andrew...
I can't post link here without getting banned.
Try "EOSHD" under google
It's actually the same Chinese guy as last time.
There are plenty of new temperature measurement that shows that Canon did a great job at keeping all temp under control.
Just a software that time the video usage to shut it down.

Multiple cameras coming to the new Cinema EOS R lineup. Along with a new XC series camera. [CR2]

Yeah, the R6 does have it but it's in H265, which is a major pain in the ass to edit and not worth it in my opinion.

I prefer the 8bit file from the C200 than have to deal with the horrible H265.
Transcode to prores or dnx. Not that hard, just takes a little extra time. When i rented an xf705 i had to do the same thing. People love to complain, sheesh. Can't wait till h266 becomes mainstream and everyone will loose their minds all over again.

New Samyang Cine Prime lenses coming to Canon EF, EF-M and RF mounts

So their interest in EF-M mount seems to show that the next M series will have serious video capability that production people will actually use it (along with their S35 A cam). This is interesting.
Hopefully it won't overheat. Since the sensor is smaller, might be a possibility. But then again, the hammer seems to never go away...

R5 - Single Point AF + Tracking

You have to use the AF tracking mode. There's a setting for "Initial Servo AF point for tracking" which lets you set it to the same AF point selected for single point modes.

I have my control ring set to change AF mode between single-point and tracking, so I can easily use single-point when I need a generic focus mode for one-shot or difficult servo situations, and then roll the ring to the left to switch to AF tracking mode. With the setting set to the same AF mode as single point, this makes it super easy to choose whether I want that single point to follow and track, or to act like a normal single-point.

Canon C200 & C200B YouTube Playlist

Friends,

Before I purchased my Canon C200B, I extensively researched and watched most of the YouTube videos I could find about both versions of this camera. If you are in the midst of buying one of these yourself, here's a selection of my favorite most informative YouTube videos about both the Canon EOS C200 and the C200B that I hope will help you decide which one to get:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsHnqQEeLtihn5KkeU3DbM7lEjV_QyrTh

I was considering buying a Canon EOS R5 but after much research I decided to go with a C200B for basically the same amount of money ($100 more). I don't have any photography needs, so the C200B fits my YouTube channel needs. Following Rubidium's 10bit workflow was a big selling point for me (watch 'Canon C200: 422 10 bit Workflow').

I hope this helps other folks looking to buy their first cinema camera.

Cheers to your success!

Peace,
Ben

Are Two EOS M cameras coming in 2020? [CR1]

There have been plenty of superior products who lost the marketing war.

The classic example is VHS vs. BETAMAX.

Or Tucker vs. GM/Ford/Chrysler.
As usual, lots of throwing around of 'marketing' without any basis in facts.

VHS vs BETA: Beta was more expensive for both the players and tapes, it's video and audio quality improvements were minor and not able to be discerned except on the highest end home theater setups, and most importantly, it's recording times were half of VHS which was a huge issue given the price of the tapes was also higher. It lost on price and features, not due to 'marketing'.

As for Tucker, starting a car company was hard and they engaged in some shady business practices which resulted in an SEC investigation. The demise of that company is again much more complicated than 'marketing' and they were actually innovative at that aspect for their time.
