Check Your Orders...Mine is Moving..
Yesterday the R5 shifted from backordered to order in progress with a delivery date of October 5th. B&H.

The Canon RF 85mm f/2 IS STM was announced alongside the EOS R5 and EOS R6 back in July and had a shipping estimate of October. It looks like it’s on schedule, as I’ve received two reports of the lens hitting the shores of Australia this week and it will likely be in customers’ hands next week.
Adorama is still showing a ship date of November 2, 2020, but I think folks that preordered what will definitely be a popular lens will be getting there’s before then.
If you preordered one and you’ve received a shipping notification, please let me know.

The Funleader 18mm f/8 cap lens was first launched on Kickstarter back in 2019, and it was quite successful raising about $35,000 USD.
The lens itself is an 18mm full-frame tiny pancake lens with a fixed aperture of f/8 that doesn’t require autofocus. It has a depth of field from about 2.6feet to infinity, so you can just point and shoot and everything should be in focus.
I ordered one of these to try out. I don’t expect L lens quality, but I do like to switch up the look of my shots at the lens instead of in post.
You can now purchase the Funleader 18mm f/8 cap lens on ebay for the RF mount, as well as Sony’s E-Mount and Nikon’s Z-Mount. It’s relatively affordable for what it is at about $149 USD...
From SIGMA:
We would like to share the results of our investigation regarding the operation of SIGMA’s lenses for Canon EF mount when used on the Canon EOS R5.
We have verified the operation with our SIGMA GLOBAL VISION (SGV) interchangeable lenses (Contemporary, Art, and Sports lines) for Canon EF mounts used on the“Canon EOS R5” with Canon’s mount adapter “EF-EOS R Series”, and confirmed that there were no problems with general operations such as AE, AF, and image stabilization.
Please note the following points when using our products.
For SGV interchangeable lenses released before 2017*, it is necessary that the lens firmware is updated to Ver.2.00 or later. * The release year can be confirmed by the edition number (A017, C015, etc.) engraved on the lens barrel. Please refer to the following page for details of the lens firmware...
The Canon EOS M50 Mark II has been confirmed through Canon product listings for dealers. This camera body has been rumored for quite some time to come in Q4 of 2020, so we should see an announcement soon.
Also appearing is a new Canon Speedlite called the EL-1, we have reported a new flagship Speedlite was coming, and hopefully, this is it. It’s interesting that Canon is now using a new naming scheme for a Speedlite.
Also added to the list are Speedlite accessories named SCF-EL, SBA-EL and LP-EL. I think the LP is going to be a rechargeable battery for the new Speedlite.
More to come…
With the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 already shipping in batches, and the Canon Cinema EOS C70 starting to ship in November, the rumor mill has slowed down for the moment. This tells me not to expect too many new and exciting products to hit in 2020.
I do want to talk about RF lenses though, and I wonder what your expectations are to fill out the RF lens lineup, there are obviously still a lot of holes in it. Keep in mind the RF mount has only existed for 755 days (at the time of this post) and the last 6 months we’ve been buried in a global pandemic that has altered product plans.
Rumours aside, these are the 3 lenses I want to see next from Canon.

Keith Cooper from Northlight Images gives his impressions of the Canon EOS R5. Keith shoots a ton of architectural photography and uses tilt-shifts for a lot of his work.
Keith gives many positives about the Canon EOS R5, but his conclusion may surprise you.
I really like the clear viewfinder and image stabilisation of the R5. The image quality is a step up from the 5Ds – not massive, but it’s there.
The handling is good, and autofocus seems to meet any needs I’d have. Exposure seems accurate and unphased by shift, tilt, or any old optics I might attach. Those RF lenses were rather nice.
The rear screen is clear with lots of detail. The top screen is readable without my glasses.
Control layout is familiar to me – no problems once I’m used to it.

Anhui China, Sept 28, 2020 – Venus Optics, the camera lenses manufacturer specialized in making unique camera lenses, added the Canon RF mount option to 3 of their new ultra-wide cinema lenses. They are the Laowa 9mm T2.9 Zero- D , Laowa 15mm T2.1 Zero-D Cine Lens and Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D. All three lenses feature the same optical system as the rest of the mounts and with the same close-to-zero distortion (Zero-D) design. They are also built with robust cinema lenses housing. The new RF variants will be a very interesting wide-angle option for Red Komodo, Canon EOS R5 / R6, and the new Canon C70 cinema cameras.
Ultra-wide FoV & fast aperture
All three Laowa cine lenses feature an ultra-wide angle of view and fast aperture. The 9mm T2.9 features an approximate 113° FoV on Super35 sensors while the 15mm T2.1 and 12mm T2.9 feature a 110° and 122° FoV respectively on cameras with full-frame...
