Impressive flash!

Hi Folks.
I have just been watching a film about the DH Mosquito, one of my favourite aircraft. One part of it was about doing night time flash photo reconnaissance using a flash of 700 million candle power, (May have been several hundred million, iffy sound right as they gave the power). Any idea what the guide number for that would be?
Film here for those interested. Time code 23:30 for the bit about the flash.

Cheers, Graham.

Canon EOS R5 launch price will be below $4000 USD [CR3]

The most asked question currently about the Canon EOS R5 is how much will it cost? Rumors have been mostly fueled by speculation on some retailer web sites.
I have been told that the Canon EOS R5 will come in under $4000 USD for the body, the source didn’t want to divulge the exact launch price for anonymity reasons, but it has apparently been set.
With the announcement for the Canon EOS R5 coming in July, I should start to hear more about pricing and kits in the coming weeks.

Major Canon announcements coming in June & July [CR3]

I’ve been at this for 12 years and I have never seen as much hype for a Canon product than we have for the Canon EOS R5. A camera that should have already been announced had it not been for the current pandemic.
I have been told that Canon will make major announcements in June and July, which will likely be the Canon EOS R5 and/or the Canon EOS R6 along with a slew of new lenses.
Initial availability could come as early as July.
… and no, I do not know anything about pricing.
*Update*: I’ve updated this post to reflect additional major Canon announcements are also coming in July. I don’t yet know which product(s) are being announced at which time.
More to come…

Samyang AF 14mm f2.8 RF video test (looks weird)

Hey guys! I recently got this lens. For many years I’ve filmed crop sensor video with an 8mm Fisheye lens but never have I had this jello look to the edges of my video. I’m wondering if this is normal or if there is something weird going on between this new lens and the EOS R. I would suggest skipping to 25 seconds in. Any feedback would be appreciated.
EDIT: Updated the video

Which way to go ? Camera Upgrading

Hi all,

I've a bit of a quandary. I've been into photography for five and a half years now, during that time I've owned two DSLRs (my first being the 700D and my present Camera the 80D). I've got just one EF Lens which is the f/1.8 50mm. The rest of my lenses are crop sensor lenses including the 10-18 and 55-250 STM which I use the most for my Landscape Photography.

I am interested in Landscape Photography and have always wanted to switch over to Full Frame Cameras at some point so that I can really utilise the optical performance of the Full Frame lenses such as the 16-35mm f/4, 70-200 f/4 etc.

However the release of mirrorless has given me other options. It seems to me that Canon are really going to concentrate on mirrorless and it seems to be the future of Cameras.

So where we are today, almost mid way through 2020, would it make more sense to invest in a Canon EOS R (I just can't afford the £3-4k or thereabouts pricetag of the upcoming R5) or would buying a Canon 5Dmk IV or Canon 5DSR be a good choice?

Need a few tips. ;)

I took the following photo of my grandson using my R and a Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4.

I did create a preset in light room, but after I got over to photoshop I did even more tweaking. I am very happy with the result. I saved the photo and then exited lightroom and photoshop.

Is there any way I can take the finished photo and retrace my steps to create some kind of preset in Photoshop, or is it too late? Thank you!

How about new Sigma tele lenses?

Hi guys,

I never heard of a MK2 version of any Sigma lenses...but I m hoping for a new 150-600 5.0-6.3f C for DSLR/DSLM. The 150-600 C is from 2015...not so old yet. But there is the new 60-600mm wich should be better at 600mm what I have heard. But it is really big (2,7kg vs 1,9kg) and slightly double the price.

I have a really bad Tamron 150-600 G1....the service defocused my lense, tho I m looking for a new one for wildlife and birding. And want to sell my Tamron after it will be repaired I think.

Some days a ago I had the opertunity to test the Canon 100-400 II on my 5DIV. It looks really nice and sharp. But for the most small birds the 400mm is to short =/.

My hope lays also on the Canon 100-500 if is it not to expensive - but then I need the R5 :D...the RP isn't that good for wildlife.

What do you think about new potential Sigma tele-zooms?!

Canon EOS R5 pricing is still unknown, don’t believe the reports [CR0]

Yesterday a price for the upcoming Canon EOS R5 was “leaked” by an Australian retailer. The price listed was $10,499 AUD. What does that work out to in other currencies?

$6700 USD
$9500 CAD
€6200 Euro
£5500 pounds

We’ve seen the instances of a store putting a random price on a listing for the Canon EOS R5 in Europe and then watched it spread around rumors sites and forums as something real. The price wasn’t real then, and it isn’t real now.
The retailer in question has taken the $10,499 AUD pricing down and now lists a $200 AUD deposit for the Canon EOS R5, and at the same time admits they don’t have a clue what the pricing will be.
Lots of sites did some pretty good free advertising for them.
Once I know the official pricing, I’ll let you know. I highly doubt anyone is going to know this information until the week of the official announcement.
There are only two sites I’d trust with pricing before the official announcement, Nokishita who usually gets Yen pricing and well, this...
