Being a high resolution senor enjoyer myself, im wondering where the future might take us.
Will the pixel counts of modern sensors just increase generation to generation forever?

I believe they wont. When i started to photograph, many people were longing for more megapixels, but nowadays the calls for more megapixels got quiter and most people
seem to be content with whats available on the market.

Some people do still want more megapixels tho. And here im asking, how far will it go?

Of course there must be some limits to megapixelcount i imagine. Here some, that i can think of:

* Too limiting for shutterspeeds - Shots of moving subjects will need too fast of a shutter speed to be practial
* Limited by diffraction. Some lenses, like f6.3, will become limited by diffraction very soon, at like 76 megapixels.
* Limited by practicability - who needs it? at what point will there be no more market, because noone prints that big?
* Limited by lenses - is there some point, where it becomes too expensive to design lenses to resolve those high megapixel sensors (even right now most lenses dont resolve the full potential of today 45 - 61 megapixel sensors)?
* Too limited by iso, at some point you will only see all megapixels by iso 100 and anything above will result in not getting the full benefit of the pixel count

Perhaps you can think of more reasons.

What do u think? What will be the most limiting factors and where do you think we will end up, pixel count wise, in the forseeable future?

Hello guys,

I would like to know how do you clean your lens. I normally use a liquid from Hama and a microfiber cloth but it's very hard to do a perfect clean. At first glance it looks fine, but if you put it in the light and start rotating the front element it always seems to have stains or dust stuck on it.

What's your experience?

Post your shots from Canon's first non-L lens reaching 400mm. The lens is light enough to bring along while traveling but delivers image quality nearly as good as the RF 100-500, at a surprisingly low price.

For many, this will be a great lens for birds and wildlife, and with the close minimum focus distance yielding a 0.41x magnification at just under 1 m, it's also great for insects. Although not a common subject for a long lens like this, my main use of it so far has been landscapes.

I have a 135mm f1.8 lens and a 400 f2.8 Lens.

While the 400 f2.8 has "perfect" mtf charts and the 135mm f1.8 does not, the 135mm f1.8 shows way more sharpness in a field test.

Im talking about the sony lenses here. I tested this with the 61mp a7r iv.
I shot a testsubject and framed it the same with both lenses, meaning i had to walk further away with the 400mm lens.

Tests were shot with a tripod and a remote shutter. The results also align with my experience with these lesnes from months of use.

How can this be? Shouldnt the 400mm f2.8 be clearly sharper according to the MTF charts?

The source? A recording of the shutter sound of his own Canon AE-1.

I am new to photography. I make artisan jewelry and needed to upgrade an old camera to a newer one to take product photos. I bought a nice lens RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM for this and it works great, now I have my eye on a Canon RF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM I am interested in a multipurpose lens. I have seen them go for $1,180 US dollars and up.

My question: Is it a good idea to wait for the holiday specials (if any) or just buy now? Will it even make a difference in price?

I thought some of you experienced photographers would know better. I don't mind buying refurbished.
I am not even sure if there is such a thing as a Canon lens discount for holiday specials so I thought I'd ask.
