FYI, T7i has 5-axis electronic image stabilization, which is a software solution not physical one.

Please describe the 5 axes that are electronically stabilized. I can only manage to count three... ???
X-axis, Y-axis, Z-axis, Time-axis, and the Dilbert zone.....

seriously though, it's yaw/pitch/vertical shift/horizontal shift/rolling

Perhaps I was a bit disingenuous...I know the axes. But since you've decided to list them, perhaps you can explain how pitch and yaw are corrected electronically, which was really what I was asking. Or maybe I'm still being disingenuous, because the question is rhetorical. X/Y shift and roll can be corrected electronically, but 5-axis stabilization would only be possible with an IS lens attached to correct for pitch and yaw.

As a side note, it may someday be feasible to electronically correct pitch/yaw with the evolution of DPAF (either quad pixels or 90° alternating dual pixels) and lots of on-board computational power.

Ps. Avoid the Dilbert zone at all costs!

Sorry for the confusion, I was only referring to official Canon marketing. I haven't tried the feature intensively though, so you pique my interest into the matter. I'll make a swift reply after I got one.

Only 5 axes I know are the wood axe, stone axe, steel axe, golden axe, and the diamond axe. Not sure if they are stabilized though. ::)

JK, I know that axes is the plural form of axis. ;)

there's a couple of hints in the photos of what other features might be:

increased size of the usb/hdmi cover could point to a usb3 connector under there - or perhaps just having visible screws like the 80D and usb2

on the grip side, the flap for the DC coupler has moved, so likely a different battery from the 760D. pure speculation based on the direction it's moved, but could they have managed to squeeze an LP-E6N in there? battery life on the 760D with wifi turned on is horrible, so any improvement has to be a good thing

They also seem to have changed the styling to be similar to the 80D with the addition of the AF-ON button, the change of the lock from a slide to the 80D's swing style and the menu/info buttons being round

anyone know what the extra mode between SCN and M is on this and the 800D ?

It's the "Creative Filters" mode, basically full auto with different effects including HDR. It's also included in the 80D but it's a beginner/casual user feature.

Speaking of modes, I'm pretty surprised the 77D didn't gain a C mode. It has always been one of those distinguishing "not Rebel" features.

Ah, ok.. So something else to make it look more like the 80D. The 760D has most of that as well, it's just buried in the menu under the CA mode.

Yes, lack of a C mode is surprising. The more I think about it tho the 77D is realy just an 80D-lite that's trying to capture some more of the Rebel users and gently encourage them a bit more upmarket. Probably Canon did well out of the 760D then, perhaps better than they expected, so continuing the theme? Either way, will be interesting to see the final feature/price differences between this and the 800D

Yeah, I think the 760D was an experiment to see if there's demand for a "Rebel plus". Apparently there was, and I guess there's even more demand for a "80D lite" like you said - it's probably not even that much about the feature set but the branding. Especially in the US and Japan.
