If the rumored specs are true, the R8 looks like the perfect RP replacement. With it had IBIS but that's probably too much to ask.

The "R8" badge in these images looks like the original EOS R/RP in terms of relationship to the "EOS", but different than every other current EOS R-series camera. The purported R50 has no badge at all.
@nunataks, you were asked for the source of the images but did not provide one. Do we need to get out the brooms and declare shenanigans here?
Edit: Actually, the R on the R8 image is a different font than used on other R bodies (no curve on the leg).

The R50 image looks real. You can see the inscription with the model name on the top of the camera, just like on the M50.

Canon's thinking seems to be, if peoples biggest gripe about the Rp is the battery, give them 2 fingers and stick it in the R8 too.

For them to be the real specs they would have to come from a real source.
I am open to the possibility of some making things up and guessing correctly but I would not call those specs.

That R50 is tempting. Combine it with an RF 24mm, and it's a rather nice, fairly lightweight, general purpose shooter. Hmmm...
