I almost ran over this 10 cm small adder (
vipera berus) with my bike on the way to the ponds. No wonder, it went into a threatening posture.
Edit: a friend of mine pointed out to me that "my" specimen is also known as a "copper adder" due to its reddish colouration. Just naming.
So please, be careful about these little creatures.
