Do we have a name? I received an email claiming the new name for the Rebel will be the T1i Some more information It’s in between 50D and XSi. It has the same size sensor as the 50D, 15MP. It has creative auto mode. Same body as the XSi. It has a video mode. 720p at 30 frames/sec and 1080p and 20 frames/sec. This is a rumor, not fact……… yet. Thanks for the tip cr

Looks good Tamron has announced the development of a 60mm F2 macro lens that provides 1:1 magnification for APS-C sensors. The lens, called the SP AF60mm F/2.0 Di II Macro 1:1, will be available in Canon, Sony and Nikon mounts (with a built-in autofocus motor to allow AF to operate on the D40, D40X and D60). Its design, which incorporates two low dispersion elements to to compensate for various aberrations, lets you achieve 1:1 magnification at a working distance of 100mm. Hello New Rebel Canon Canada has started instant DEALER rebates on the Rebel XSi. The rebate runs from March 16, 2009 to June 30, 2009. Dealers don’t have to pass these savings onto the consumer, but they almost always do. The rebates promote dual lens kits. $50 savings if you buy an XSi w/18-55 IS & 55-250 IS. $25 savings if you buy an XSi w/18-55 IS & 75-300. Held this off from last week An anonymous tip pointed to the development of a CMOS based “G” camera. The camera would be available in the fall Specs MP: 12.2 CMOS Size: 1/1.6″ Lens: 5x (28 – 140) Proc: DIGIC V (Already?) LCD: 3″ VGA Movie: 1080p That was the basic specs told to me. Seems reseaonable. There was no information as to whether or not there would be a CCD version of the camera released along with the GMOS. cr
From the world of wacky Received an email stating Canon would be adding another kit lens to the Rebel kits. It would look something like: EF-S 18-120 f/3.5-5.6 IS I don’t think a kit lens between the 18-55 and 18-200 would be such a bad idea. Big grain of salt on this one and add some pepper. cr

From Rob Galbraith Canon Canada will end the repair of cameras and other photo gear at its facilities in Calgary and Montreal later this month, as the first step in a consolidation and expansion of Canon Professional Service (CPS) resources in Mississauga. Stock? A reader has pointed out that the 15mm fisheye appears to be out of stock in a lot of places, has anyone else noticed this? Could this be the PMA of niche lenses being released? It would be nice to see new EF-S & EF fisheyes. I’ll poke around. thanks Michael cr
