New Rebel DSLR Coming for CES in January [CR2]

I think that has already arrived as the M5. I'm happy with my 100D(SL1) alongside my 6D, but know that the EF-M mount has a much longer future ahead of it. If I was buying today I would be looking at the M5 and waiting for the price to drop.

With decent glass, my SL1 has been an excellent, lightweight, alternative for those with large hands on days when the body doesn't relish carrying serious weight.

Hopefully, it lasts long enough for me to weigh the alternatives betwixt a SL1X II, and some version of M in a similar form factor. ;)

Definitely Winter coat pocketable, pancake 24mm + 50mm STM work well too - those 2 lenses are all I ever have on my 100D!

A perfect combo of 100D and lenses!

The 18-55 kit lens is practically weightless but feels bulky on it. Canon really should have a kit option of the SL1/100D with the 24mm STM. Then just add the 50. A general-purpose lens and a portrait lens on the tiniest DSLR body and that's it!

Agreed! An excellent combo.

A new rebel? So fast?

No way.

The new rebels are making very good sales, the t6i and t6s, especially the later. Not GREAT sales but very decent. They will never the product so fast, they'll make some money off of it first.

The t6i and S were huge upgrades to the rebel line. The rebels toped at the 700D/T5i, which was nothing new compared to a 550D/600D including the sensor and speed and image quality. While the t6i/s are the most major upgrade for the rebel line in a loong time.
They added:

-A new 24mp chip, with great AF in liveview.
-New processor
-More focus points and area
-Wireless transfer
-Top LCD
-A front iris dial
-Newest metering system

The t6s is an ABSOLUTE joy to use. Best body I've seen from Canon in size, weight, ergonomics, a perfect balance between a tiny sl1/t5 and 80D/7D/5D. My only gripe is the front iris wheel is small.

if it's meant to replace 100D, then there is point of releasing new model, as already said if there were sensor from 80D and some nice features, then it would sell really fast ;)
