Where are the RF T/S lenses? [inc. a look at the 30mm T/S for GFX]

OK, where are the Canon TS lenses for RF? Come to think of it, the Nikon Z mount PC-E lenses have not appeared either...

I've just finished a long test of the Fuji 30mm F5.6 TS lens [including some notes on the TS-E24 II] and it trounces any [wide] tilt/shift lens I've ever tested.

https://www.northlight-images.co.uk/fuji-30mm-ts-review/ [includes 2 videos 18 & 34 mins]

The shift and mount rotation are encoded in EXIF making correction of shifted images a whole lot easier [potentially - only C1 supports it at the moment]

So, for an RF 24mm T/S lens, how wide an aperture is needed? The F5.6 of the Fuji was more than enough for any application I'd use

The TS-E50, 90II and 135 show how good Canon can do - all perform well on larger sensors too.

If there was one thing my TS-E24 II reminded me of after the testing, it was just how far lens design has come on since the TS-E24 and 17 were released. I'm still happy to use it, but the quality of the Fuji 30mm on a GFX100S sure was impressive [even if it's a $4000 lens ;-) ]

Theoretical and practical limits of high megapixel cameras.

Being a high resolution senor enjoyer myself, im wondering where the future might take us.
Will the pixel counts of modern sensors just increase generation to generation forever?

I believe they wont. When i started to photograph, many people were longing for more megapixels, but nowadays the calls for more megapixels got quiter and most people
seem to be content with whats available on the market.

Some people do still want more megapixels tho. And here im asking, how far will it go?

Of course there must be some limits to megapixelcount i imagine. Here some, that i can think of:

* Too limiting for shutterspeeds - Shots of moving subjects will need too fast of a shutter speed to be practial
* Limited by diffraction. Some lenses, like f6.3, will become limited by diffraction very soon, at like 76 megapixels.
* Limited by practicability - who needs it? at what point will there be no more market, because noone prints that big?
* Limited by lenses - is there some point, where it becomes too expensive to design lenses to resolve those high megapixel sensors (even right now most lenses dont resolve the full potential of today 45 - 61 megapixel sensors)?
* Too limited by iso, at some point you will only see all megapixels by iso 100 and anything above will result in not getting the full benefit of the pixel count

Perhaps you can think of more reasons.

What do u think? What will be the most limiting factors and where do you think we will end up, pixel count wise, in the forseeable future?

MTF Charts vs. Sharpness in the field

I have a 135mm f1.8 lens and a 400 f2.8 Lens.

While the 400 f2.8 has "perfect" mtf charts and the 135mm f1.8 does not, the 135mm f1.8 shows way more sharpness in a field test.

Im talking about the sony lenses here. I tested this with the 61mp a7r iv.
I shot a testsubject and framed it the same with both lenses, meaning i had to walk further away with the 400mm lens.

Tests were shot with a tripod and a remote shutter. The results also align with my experience with these lesnes from months of use.

How can this be? Shouldnt the 400mm f2.8 be clearly sharper according to the MTF charts?

The world’s most popular camera* is…Canon

Some of the Apple aficionados out there may be familiar with the backstory of the iconic Sosumi warning sound, at least with one of the many versions of the story. The true version was shared by the developer who created that and other system sounds.

Back at the end of the 80’s when System 7 was being written (two versions later than System 5 that came with my first Mac), Apple Computer was being sued by Apple Corps (The Beatles’ music company) over their name, so their lawyers told them to steer clear of anything to do with music. The developer made a xylophone sound he wanted to call Chime, the lawyers said ‘too musical’. He then jokingly proposed ‘Let It Beep’ before deciding on Sosumi, as in So Sue Me, in honor of the ongoing litigation and the name stuck.

Now, what the heck does any of that have to do with photography? That developer also created the System 7 sound for a screen capture. That same sound is used as the ‘shutter sound’ for the billions of iPhones out there taking pictures.

The source? A recording of the shutter sound of his own Canon AE-1.

Canon Patent Application: Canon TS-R lenses

Do you remember those two patent applications here and here that we talked about Canon looking at doing motorized tilt and shift with the possibility of fine AF control as well? Well, those patent applications were based on a different kind of tilt-shizzle lens, which involved moving elements instead of shifting and swinging the entire

Do Canon lenses go down in price for the holidays?

I am new to photography. I make artisan jewelry and needed to upgrade an old camera to a newer one to take product photos. I bought a nice lens RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM for this and it works great, now I have my eye on a Canon RF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM I am interested in a multipurpose lens. I have seen them go for $1,180 US dollars and up.

My question: Is it a good idea to wait for the holiday specials (if any) or just buy now? Will it even make a difference in price?

I thought some of you experienced photographers would know better. I don't mind buying refurbished.
I am not even sure if there is such a thing as a Canon lens discount for holiday specials so I thought I'd ask.

Thank you, any help is appreciated Angel from The Bay

All-in-One card reader for CF Express B + SD + MicroSD?

Does anyone know of a reliable all-in-one reader for CFexpress-B, SD, and MicroSD cards? Browsing through Amazon, it looks like any reader that has CFexpress does not offer a micro SD slot, and vice versa.

I've been using this CFexpress + SD reader for about a year using a MicroSD to SD card adapter. Transfer speeds seem to be generally decent for CFexp and SD, but other than that, I'm not at all happy with it. The SD card is somewhat loose and has disconnected on me a few times during a transfer. Also, the reader will occasionally get hot to the point where you can't hold the back of your hand against it for more than a few seconds at a time. The whole thing makes me uneasy. I've swapped it out for a replacement about a month into owning and the second reader is no different.

I appreciate any suggestions or product recommendations.
